Relish - feel good dinner with friends

Makati is a haven of restaurants. I know I have tried a few, but there's a lot more to discover. Now, let me share to you another place that I'm impressed for both the food, and ambiance.

Relish is located in Valero Street, Makati.
Photo from  http://lynneenroute.wordpress.com/2010/10/27/relish-a-lunch-respite/
The place has a classy + comfy setup.  Though it's quite small, you can still manage to sit and talk with each other. The whole "Relish" experience is spiced up by the personal performance of the owner (I guess?). He sings, plays instruments (plus chimes!)- lovely right?

the owner (I guess), playing beautful music.
I personally liked his " Pasko Na Sinta Ko" rendition. The slang Tagalog performance, plus feel good music with chimes totally made our night Christmas-y. :)

Now, let's go to the food! For appetizers -they are offering several dips and salads. We ordered Chicken Liver Pate, 220 pesos
Bold flavor of liver plus crunchy bread chops.

It's my first time to try Liver Pate- and what can i say? it tastes like liver. The meat is finely mashed, and you can have 1-2 dip for appetizer. Good but it's not really my type.

Second is the Amazing Artichoke Dip, 260 pesos
Creamy and cheesy!
Artichoke Dips are always my favorite since they usually come with loads of cheese. This one never disappoints as well.  The cheese is blended well with cream and the artichokes are not finely chopped to add texture --My favorite in the appetizers that we ordered. However, i still like Cibo's Spinach and Artichoke dip better.

Our last appetizer is the Hummus with Pita Bread, 175 pesos
Hummus = Garbanzos!
I love this version of Hummus. Light, but still tasty. the Pita bread is also served hot, so it pairs well with the hot dip.

As for the main dish, we opted for Pasta with Creamy Garlic Sauce, 260 pesos
Simply like a carbonara
This is like a normal Carbonara- that is slightly overpowered by the taste of mushrooms.  Considering the price VS the taste, it is pretty reasonable.

We also ordered Chorizo with Tomato Cream Sauce, 290 pesos
Favorite Pasta dish in Relish!
It's my first time to try this recipe, and I absolutely loved it. I really cannot taste the strong flavor of chorizo - a proof that it was able to blend well with the tomato cream sauce. A serving will make you wanting for more. Good thing we have several orders, or else my attention will be focused on cleaning this dish.

For the meat, we tried one of the House Specialties- Relish Roasted Chicken with Garlic, Lemon, and Oregano, 370 pesos
Meat flavor at its finest!
Great shot right? Not just that, but the taste itself is perfect. The chicken meat up to the insides are perfectly marinated. It is juicy and tasty. If you love chicken, try this! Best so far from all the roasted chicken recipes that I've tried. pair it up with the mashed potato- and super yummy! If you are on a diet--forget about it first :D

Now, here's the Hickory Smoked Barbeque Pork Belly, 390 pesos
Juicy, soft, and tasty! and oh,i fell in love with the mashed potato
Another Mashed potato + Pork Belly combo--and it's perfect again! The meat is soft (with the fall from the bones characteristic like Racks). As for the flavor- it's a combination of sour, sweet, and salty taste. As a confession, I can surely consume this whole serving if I'm on a normal lunch pigout mode. Try it out!

After diving onto chicken and pork, let's explore the fish section!
We ordered Baked Salmon, 440 pesos

Salmon, healthy, golden, and -pink! Love love love it
It is paired with Salad drizzled with  dressing. From the looks of it, you can see the pinkish-golden brown color, that looks so appetizing right? The fish is cooked evenly, while still retaining a juicy feeling. Simply- heaven. :) here's a closeup picture of the Salmon

After the monster delicious meals, we ended the night with a light and cute dessert- marshmallows and fruits with chocolate dip!
Chocolate dip + marshmallows + fruits = Cute dessert!
A perfect night- super yummy food, relaxing music, and great laughs with friends. I'll definitely be going back here. Thumbs up relish team! here are some pictures of us with HUGE smiles :D

Wingman - The Ultimate Wing Experience!

Who loves spicy foods? Raise your right hand--- (me raising both hands).

Well- visit Wingman! I've first tried this place with my friends. Unfortunately I wasn't able to document that moment, so I went back now bringing my mom and dad.
@ Wingman, The Collective Makati- near Caltex Pasong Tamo

We ordered 1 dozen of wings ( half-lemon pepper, and half-garlic parmesan), 330 pesos
1 dozen wings. The carrot side is healthy and yummy! <3

The wings are served hot. I love the Lemon pepper variety(left side). It has that lemon-juicy flavor, that has a pepper kick in the end. Not spicy though. What I did to make it spicy is to drizzle Tabasco sauce all over it. On the other hand, the Garlic parmesan(right side)-for me is over flavored and oily. There's too much flavor of garlic, that I'm almost not tasting the chicken meat.

I was also able to try the Buffalo Wings- Pinaka flavor (meaning--pinaka-spicy). Forgot to take a picture, but just imagine chicken wings topped with chili seeds just like how you sprinkle meat with sesame seeds. From the name itself, the moment you have your first bite, surely, you will have 2-3- or even more glasses of water needed just to remove the hot and spicy flavor in your mouth. My lips became fiery red after eating them. In the end- I still liked it! I super love how authentic the spicy flavor is.

Buffalo-Pinaka- 5/5 **fiery hot!

Here is a shot of the other chicken wings flavors they are offering: Curious? try them all!

Our second order is the Quesadilla (210 pesos)
Quesadilla-fully loaded with cheese and topped with sour cream!

This is made of crispy tortillas loaded with 3 cheeses, tomato, and pomodoro sauce. It is topped with sour cream. It is super cheesy! Good, but not the best i've ever tried (I still  prefer Army Navy version).

Of course, a meal will not be complete without Fries! 130 pesos(regular, + garlic parmesan flavor, 20 pesos)
Garlic parmesan fries , 150 pesos

For me the fries is quite oily- but then, it pairs well with the chicken.

New Bombay - authentic Indian food!

Living in the heart of Makati- I'm surrounded with loads of food places. So one friday night after running, I decided to try out an Indian restaurant located in our condo (Columns) ---New Bombay!

As usual, i'm on the healthy mode again so I decided to try out a vegetarian dish-
Palak Paneer (235 pesos)

Palak Paneer, 235 pesos. Green delicious stuff. :)-spinach + cottage cheese

Palak Paneer is an Indian dish made of tender cubes of homemade cottage cheese cooked in rich spinach sauce and mild spices. Paneer simple means Farmer's cheese.

When you order this, you will be asked on how spicy you want your dish to be. I requested for the most spicy (since I love spicy foods <3). If you are looking for a cheesy taste because of the cottage cheese- you'll never find it here, because cottage cheese is made that way-plain.

The dish is great! Even though I wasn't able to taste the "original" version in India, I can say that they were able to replicate it, because the moment it reaches my taste buds-an explosion of flavors happened.

Your Paneer will never be perfect without an Indian bread or rice. For me- since I'm a fan of cheesy foods, I ordered Cheese Naan (95 pesos).

Cheese Naan, 95 pesos. Love love love

Naan is an oven baked flatbread. New bombay's version is grilled, and the good thing is that they mixed yummy cheese within. I wasn't able to determine what kind of cheese it is, but one thing's for sure- it's flavorful and delicious. This bread partnered with the Paneer is Perfect (stars, hearts, flying all over-magical).

I've tried Breadtalk's version of Cheese Naan , and i love it- but I love this version better. if they just have several branches- then I'd be willing to try them all. (of course, setting aside the calories since Naan has a very high count)

Cibo - healthy + classy place

Last Friday- due to our healthy living pledge, we ate at Cibo-Glorietta.

The place is indeed classy and comfy. The whole menu is really tempting. Pasta, pizza, salad, soup--all the delicious ones with a healthy twist. Great right?

We decided to settle for salad and bread. For salad- we ordered Insalata di mare (regular, 308 pesos).
Half serving(my share) of the regular plate (308 pesos). Fresh ingredients :)

The English equivalent of Insalata di Mare is Seafood Salad. In this photo you cannot see the seafood, but it has enough serving of steamed shrimp and squid with pesto garlic flavor. It has mixed greens and alfalfa roots as well.

It is delicious. The olive oil dressing (+ other unknown spices) makes it perfect. Just the right amount flavors bursting in to your mouth all together. A health buff will surely like this! Yum yum!

The second item that we ordered is the Bruschette Pomodoro Classico - Rustic crusty bread, grilled, Garlic, etra -virgin olive oil topped with fresh tomato, garlic, extra virgin olive oil, parmesan, and basil. I forgot to take a picture of the dish, but here's a shot of the food with my friend Danette.
Danette with her Bruschette Pomodoro Classico (170)---exciting!

The Bruschette is great as well. From the presentation up to its taste- oh perfect! Just to share with you, this is one of my favorite snacks and I usually create my own whenever I have a supply of fresh tomatoes. This dish will be incomplete without you pouring over the extra virgin olive oil + garlic.

There. That ends our Cibo experience? Will I go back? definitely-i'll bring my family next time. Just one comment-- the foods are priced highly so better prepare (financially) before you indulge into Cibo goodness.  I'll make this as a healthy treat to myself while trying to find the right way to being fit :)
